Aika Furukawa

Aika Furukawa is a Japanese artist born in Aichi, Japan, who is now based in Brussels. Trained in painting and visual arts at the Tokyo University of the Arts, she has developed a sensitive practice centered on gesture, impermanence, and an attentiveness to everyday forms. Alongside her artistic work, she has spent many years sharing the arts of Japanese calligraphy and sumi-e—nature-inspired ink drawing—teaching them in Brussels and elsewhere. Her workshops combine brushwork, ink, concentration, and a meditative approach, inviting participants to slow down their gaze and discover Japanese culture through the act of drawing.
